Introduction

NewJeans (뉴진스) is a 5-member K-pop girl group aging from 15-19 years old under ADOR and HYBE Labels. The members consist of Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, and Hyein. They’re known for their girl next door image and 1990s- and 2000s-indebted pop and R&B songs with influences of various dance and club styles. I really admire them because of how hardworking and successful they are at such a young age. Their song genre is exactly my taste along with their expressive and catchy dance routines.

Their iconic KPop group name NEWJEANS is derived from the idea that jeans are just a classic fashion essential, and much like the group aims to be themselves, they want to embody a timeless image for their branding.

This can be seen in their style and music video inspiration that takes a lot of inspiration from vintage and old-school types of settings. Many fans who watch their videos often comment about the nostalgia they’ve been able to invoke from the uses of old-school camcorders, 90s fashion, and the like. In addition to this meaning, the NEWJEANS Kpop group name is also a play on the word set “new genes” which implies a new generation of Kpop music.
